The J. Morey Journal: Meet Andrew Shimazaki

Andrew is new to The J. Morey Company, but is not new to the insurance industry. Learn more about our newest team member in our one-on-one interview with him.

Name: Andrew “Andy” Shimazaki | Account Executive

What motivates you to work hard? To hear from appreciative clients and to enjoy the benefits from working hard.

One of your proudest accomplishments? One of my proudest accomplishments is running my Farmers Insurance agency for 26 successful years.

What did you want to be when you were younger? When I was younger, I wanted to be a Fireman, but when I shattered my leg in an OCSA basketball game, that dream ended.

What is your favorite sport to watch or play? My favorite sport to watch is Dodger baseball, my favorite sport to play was basketball, although i’m too old to play now.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? If I could only have one meal for the rest of my life, it would be Shabu Shabu.

If money was no object, what would you do all day? I would probably donate more of my time to Japanese American organizations.

What kinds of hobbies or interests do you have outside of work? I collect sport memorabilia and like going to sporting events.

What is the best gift you have been given? The best give I have ever been given was probably my first car, a 1972 Volkswagen Bug.

If you were a super hero, what powers would you want to have? I would want the power of being able to heal people.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Live comfortably, not excessively. Make sure I took care of family or friends that are in need. Donate money to children’s charities and Japanese American organizations.

What’s your favorite animal? My favorite animals are dogs, I have a Cocker Spaniel named Kobe.

The most unusual thing you ever ate? Sucked the gelatin out of a Blue Fin Tuna eyeball. I had a lot of sake beforehand!
