Spring Cleaning Hacks

The weather is getting warmer, the days are longer, and spring is finally here! There is nothing better than coming home to a clean house and spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to get rid of those things you can live without. Here are our home cleaning hacks:

  • Use an Apron

Grab your cleaning supplies from inside the cabinets at once and store them in the pockets of an apron. This way your hands are free to clean.

  • Microwave

Cut a lemon into halves and squeeze the juice into a ½ cup of water then drop the rinds into it. Microwave this for 3 minutes and let it stand for 5 minutes without opening the door. This will trap the steam and loosen the grime inside the microwave, making it easier to clean.

  • Blinds

Wrap 2 microfiber towels around a pair of tongs, then wipe this across each slat.

  • Maximize Laundry Time

Instead of spending time separating lights from darks, use a color catcher sheet or a ½ cup of white vinegar (plus detergent) to keep the colors from running. Don’t worry, the natural odor that vinegar has fades away as your clothes dry!

  • The Tub

If you notice mold/mildew in the shower, spray vodka on the affected area. The acid will cut right through the grime. Let this sit for 10 minutes then go ahead and scrub.

  • Lampshade

Use a typical clothing lint roller on your lampshades to remove the dust they attract.

  • Dishwasher

Place a dishwasher safe cup of vinegar on the top shelf and run the hottest cycle yoru dishwasher has. After, sprinkle a cupful of baking soda around the bottom and run it through a short but complete cycle using the hottest water
