Staying Fit: Holiday Edition

The holiday season is known notoriously for “expanding our waistlines.” Between all the holiday parties and tempting treats it is easy to lose sight of our fitness goals. Here are some tips and tricks to help you this year:

  1. Keep Moving

It has been proven that sitting for too long can be detrimental to your health. Research shows that getting up for just five minutes every half hour to hour and performing light activity reduces the risk of diabetes and other heart disease risk factors.

  1. Stay Hydrated

Your brain can sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. It has also been proven that drinking a large glass of water before a meal can help to lessen the amount of foods you intake.

  1. Workout Early

Workout in the morning to avoid getting distracted later in the day by parties and other holiday events.

  1. Try HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)

This allows you to get a fast, sweaty workout in. HIIT workouts can be as short as 10 minutes and are still super effective.
