How Much Does It Cost to Insure the Super Bowl?

If the NFL is trying to insure $100 million of expenses, the policy premium could run over $25 million.

Yes, it does cost a lot.

When you look at everything that goes into the entire production of the most anticipated game of the football season, there’s a lot to take into consideration. They need to consider anything that could possibly happen and provide property insurance, medical insurance, and liability insurance to protect the players, volunteers, VIPs, attendees, equipment, entertainment, security, venue and more.  That’s one big insurance policy, all on the NFL’s tab.

Did you know that one of the cameras that runs across the field to televise the game can cost upwards of a million dollars? A single cable for the camera can run around $300,000. Every aspect of the game must be insured and it is not cheap.

There are many details that go into a huge policy like this, but with all of the different parts that go into planning the game, it’s important for the NFL to be protected from anything that can happen. Well, except for the outcome of the game.

What happened on the field between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos is another story: Congratulations to the Broncos on their big win!
