Soy has become a part of our daily diet. Whether it be tofu, soy milk, miso, or edamame, soy has become a popular source of protein in the American diet.
April has been deemed National Soyfoods Month by the Soyfoods Association of North America to spread awareness of soy-based foods in American food and culture.
Miso is a fermented soybean paste used for sauces, pickling vegetables, and making miso soup.
This month, the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC) in Little Tokyo will be hosting a miso tasting event led by Miyako Oriental Foods Inc. Learn about the various types of miso paste and sample an assortment of dishes incorporating miso at this unique event.
The Miso Tasting Workshop will take place from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday, April 19 at the JACCC. Reservations are required for this special event, as space is limited.
For more information and reservations, please visit the JACCC website. The JACCC is located at 244 S. San Pedro St. in Downtown Los Angeles.
